Since COVID started our family has been online shopping as much as possible, but we have found that as more time passes, it is inevitable we have to go to a physical store. What I am about to share with you is a product that may help you the next time you go into a store.
This product was created 25 years ago, it is a Shopping Cart Handle Cover. A friend invented, the Shopping Cart Handle Cover back in 1995 and was labelled as a germaphobe. Flash forward to 2020 and here we are, where everyone of us has some degree of germaphobia, we are all wearing masks everywhere, and possibly giving dirty looks to people getting too close. I myself enjoy the awkward stare smile that I do since my eyes don’t really move when I smile. Instead it becomes this awkward moment of realization that I am giving a total stranger a “hard stare” for no reason at all (Shout out to the Paddington movies. We love Paddington!).
Back to my friend and his story, he designed this product for those sometimes sticky, nasty shopping cart handles, and perhaps was a bit ahead of his time. Now we know most stores are cleaning and taking proper precautions these days, but as time goes by, rules change. I have already been in stores that have stopped cleaning carts. The Shopping Cart Handle Cover goes on easy with a Velcro application where you do not even have to touch the cart at ALL. After you are done shopping, you simply grab a piece of the corner and rip it off. It is completely contactless. It is 100% reusable and machine washable, meaning you should never throw this away. It is made of 1.5 mm closed cell neoprene which protects your hands from germs and is designed to fit standard shopping cart handles easily.
This product will be useful for families even when the pandemic is over. It is a must if you have children who like to lick things. I remember one venture to the grocery store with my son. I looked away for a second to grab something, and when I looked back he was licking the handle of the cart. After dry heaving, and wanted to brush his tongue with a Brillo pad. I was cautious to not let that happen again. (disclaimer – we did not actually brush his tongue with a Brillo pad, the store was sold out of them….just kidding).
